Will you come to my location and is there a Minimum?
We pack it up and bring everything to you! Since we take a lot of care and time to bring everything to you on your big day - we do have a minimum number of services for meeting you on location. Our minimum number is 5 services per artist booked. It can be a combination of both hair and makeup or all of one.
We are happy to see you in our studio without a minimum when we can.
What kind of Makeup do you use?
We have been providing makeup services for 11 years! In that time we have built up a list of best wedding makeup to carry with us! We use waterproof makeup when possible. We airbrush or use traditional foundation - your choice! We can absolutely give you details at your consult about both kinds of foundation and let you try both! Our main goal on your wedding day is makeup longevity. We will make sure your makeup lasts long into the night!
If you are in need of a special product that we may not carry - we are happy to use your own provided makeup should you have certain needs.
When is a good time to book beauty services?
If you have found our site- then the best time is NOW! We are booking weddings up to two years away! Booking hair and makeup at the same time you book your venue or photographer is the best time to book. Do not delay!
What services do you offer on location?
We offer Hair design such as updos, and half up half down wedding hair styles.
We offer airbrush or traditional style makeup and full makeup application. We do not offer partial makeup services for "just eyes" or "just airbrushing". Since our professional team does amazing work, we only provide a full experience for our Brides and Bridal Parties - you deserve it! Flower Girls under 10 are discounted and under 3 are free. While we are on location we are able to take add on services and provided lash application services to those that may have not been included on the timeline.
How does FBJ differ from other large wedding beauty service
We are a family. Unlike other large wedding providers- that contract random artists, to provide services in an area in which the company is not located, we are homegrown in Richmond, Virgina and have been providing services throughout all of central Virginia for over 11 years. We have relationships with hundreds of venues and visit new venues in off season to begin new relationships. When you hire our team you are working with local artists and providing jobs for our ladies.
We cultivate local talent in a unique way. We offer all of our own in-house education, training and classes every year and continue education quarterly for our team free of charge to them. We do not just contract artists that we have never met. All of our artists go through an intense interview process, training, classes and shadow weddings to learn our process BEFORE ever working their own FBJ wedding with another seasoned team member. Our team members go through bacterial and infection control and venue protection certification EACH SEASON- and also something we pride ourselves in.

How do you schedule my artists on the wedding day?
I will create an organized timeline from start to finish about 45 days from your wedding. You will know exactly when the team will arrive and finish. For more information visit our What Happens Next? video on our CHANNEL FBJ where we go over this process!
Should I book a consultation?
We suggest you do. We do not require it though. About 99% of our brides do decide to do a trial. We schedule all of our trials with the artist that you will be working with on your wedding. Trials are completed in our studio and you are welcome to schedule that when you are ready. We suggest about 3-6 months before the wedding, but that is your choice. :) Check out our "Consutation Video" on Channel FBJ
On a side note: if you are booking from out of state- PLEASE book your self a flight that will put you here a full Friday and Monday- we can NOT guarantee a Saturday or Sunday consult time with your lead artist due to weekend weddings.
